Who We Are
Our mission: Defend and advance the rights of Alaska's women, children
and families.
In order to meet our mission, the AWL Steering Committee spends
all of its energy on our lobbying efforts:
- Ensuring that we'll have our lobbyist, Caren
Robinson, working for a long time
to come.
- Educating and activating our supporters on the issues that affect
Alaskan women, children and families.
The Alaska Women's Lobby lobbies on behalf of Alaskan women, children
and families to improve:
- Access to quality health care.
- Equal insurance coverage for contraceptives.
- Access to and information about abortion.
- Our schools: for our children and Alaska's future.
- Working wages for working women.
The Steering Committee is composed of committed women from all
over the state of Alaska. Currently, our three regions are Southeast, Southcentral, and North. The Statewide Steering Committee meets
monthly to determine the legislative agenda and keep up to date
with regional steering committee activities.
